The original (back 9) course is a treasure designed and created by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross. Ross is credited with either full or partial design of 22 courses in the most recent listing of the Top 100 Classical Golf Courses. Shadow Ridge opened in 1916 and was a favorite to then Michigan Governor Fred Green. The course opened two years prior to Ross' completion of the South Course at Oakland Hills CC in Bloomfield Hills, MI, which Ross was working on at the time.
Shadow Ridge Golf Course acquired 9 holes from Rolling HIlls Golf Club. In order to play 18 holes you can travel through the newly finished tunnel that connects the two courses! We look forward to welcoming you to our course and hope you enjoy the peace and beauty Ionia, Michigan has to offer!
